Join our COMMUNITY OF CLINICIANS treating a COMMUNITY OF CLIENTS and find support and guidance to practice DBT to fidelity through trauma-informed, neurodiverse, and anti-racist paradigms
You're interested in DBT training
You've seen an increase in clients really hurting - more suicidal thoughts, coping through cutting, emotion dysregulation at an all-time high - and you're interested in learning a modality that will help you guide your clients into wellness.
Training has been out of reach
For many complex reasons, comprehensive DBT training has been out of reach for you. This might be because you don't connect with the way it's being taught - maybe it's seemed very cold and not relationally based. Or you can't get away for an out-of-state training, pay for the training, hotel, food, and travel. Maybe the cost has been prohibitive. However it happens that comprehensive DBT training has been out of reach for you, we put a lot of intention around our scheduling, pricing, and accessibility. We believe that anyone who wants training should be able to access it.
You've had training but felt isolated in practice
Maybe you've had an intensive training but couldn't find your people among those in practice. Or you've taken a couple of intro courses but are yearning for something more in-depth. Our 5 day intensive covers all of the basics and advanced concepts of DBT, leaving you ready to build this into your practice when you're done. It also leaves you with the intensive training required for certification, if you choose to pursue that path. There are many flavors to DBT - yours doesn't have to look like someone else's and we look forward to the opportunity to help you explore how to practice DBT in a way that is congruent with you and your lived experiences.
Since its initial development in the 1980s, Dialectical Behavior Therapy has been shown to be effective for a wide range of problems related to living with emotion dysregulation. We know that living with severe emotion regulation challenges results in multiple problems across many areas of life and that these problems show up in a variety of ways in the lives of those we work with. The principles of DBT were specifically designed for individuals which often present therapists with novel and complex challenges. Among the benefits of a principle-based treatment modality is that it can be versatile enough to accommodate the specific situations, cultures, and contexts of the persons it serves. DBT has been studied and implemented in multiple countries across the globe.
This advanced intensive training is a comprehensive program designed specifically for clinicians who are interested in weaving in a trauma-informed understanding of how to practice DBT to fidelity with the clients they serve. We will also explore how to approach DBT through an anti-racist and neurodiverse affirming paradigm. As the gold-standard behavioral treatment to treat emotion dysregulation and help folks build a life that they view as worth living, we hold ourselves to a high standard to be able to present the treatment modality in a way that allows folks to understand how and when to custom-fit treatment interventions to meet their clients' unique needs.
In this program, you will learn what it means to implement DBT to fidelity - and then learn how to take that foundation and build a customized treatment that fits the unique needs of each client who shows up in your therapy room. You will also learn how to make DBT your own - whether that means weaving in a somatic approach, parts work language, or any other personal clinical flavor that you bring to your work. Not only will you learn this is ok - you will be given space to see how this can enhance your experience as a clinican and your client's experience as well.
Here are some highlights of what you will learn:

Testimonials
Jennifer is an amazing presenter! You can easily notice how deeply passionate she is about DBT and I left feeling encouraged and knowledgeable of the information presented. She took time to answer complex questions with applicable examples and roleplays. I have never felt as confident after training as I have with Jennifer's presenting style and compassion for the work of DBT.
I gained clarity on when to work on secondary targets (and how), as well as got some great additional teaching practices to provide psycho education to clients. I also feel much more comfortable in the use of the 5 change strategies (tended to focus on skills use & problem solving with some cognitive modification. I have a better awareness of how to apply contingency mgmt & exposure work within DBT)
Jennifer is an enthusiastic, well-informed trainer who teaches with her love of DBT. I can't recommend more strongly to consider putting in the effort and time of attending the training - it has been so beneficial to my practice of DBT. I especially appreciated this training bringing together every aspect of DBT to culminate with the case conceptualization.
This is a fantastic course! I learned tons of information that I could apply immediately. I felt confident in my abilities to provide DBT after I took this course. This was very well worth cancelling my appointments to attend this training. My clients benefited greatly from what I took away. Take this class, it is well worth it!
There was just the right balance of didactic and hands-on learning. I would definitely attend trainings led by the instructor again.
I especially liked the hands on activities such as case conceptualization activity, the dialectical strategies activity, and the skills class presentations. I have a much better understanding of how to apply dialectical strategies and complete case conceptualization after this training. I learned how to use case conceptualization for treatment planning and how to better implement change procedures when completing a behavior chain.
I knew very little about DBT coming in to this training and now I feel that I can apply this intervention model with my clients. The opportunity for practice in the trainings and the role play examples give a good foundation for how to use these skills in sessions.
Based on how science informs the impact of trauma
Particular time and attention is devoted to understanding how to practice DBT through a trauma-informed lens
Built with respect for neurodiverse learners and movement toward de-centering racism
We speak about elephants in the room, encourage diverse learning styles and brains, understand that racism and oppression are real - and that all of these topics need to be in treatment, consultation teams, therapy sessions, and training environments. We commit to continued work in this area and ask others participating to do the same.

Meet Jennifer Cobb
Hi, my name is Jennifer Cobb and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been working with individuals and families in the mental health field since 1999 and opened my private practice in 2011. I currently run a successful group practice, consult and train clinicians who are interested in practicing DBT to fidelity, and provide support and guidance for the larger DBT community.
As the owner and founder of Guilford Counseling, PLLC, I began practicing comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy in 2010. After being intensively trained by Marsha Linehan and her team at Behavioral Tech in 2011 in a program designed for clinicians to be able to take DBT to fidelity back to their communities, I put together a comprehensive training program for my employees. In 2016, I began offering intensive DBT trainings to the larger community.
My approach to DBT weaves together a strong understanding of trauma informed treatment, respect for neurodiversity, and anti-racism principles. I call this TF-DBT and my dream is to continue to make high quality trauma-informed DBT training accessible to all. We are, after all, a community of clinicians treating a community of clients and need support and community to make this work sustainable.
